Castellon de La Plana. Post office building (Edificio de Correos de Castellón)
On the small square of Tetuan (Plaza Tetuan) is one of the ornaments of the city - the post office building (Edificio de Correos de Castellón on the map).
The building was built in 1932 by architects Ribes Marco and joaquín Dicenta Vilaplana (Demetrio Ribes Marco y Joaquín Dicenta Vilaplana).
The building is built in Moorish traditions, the facade is faced with artificial stone and decorated with numerous ceramic inserts and panels.
The construction was carried out within the framework of the state program, which was designed to provide provincial capitals with a functional and beautiful building of the post office, started in 1909. Thanks to this, post office buildings are masterpieces of architecture in many cities.
The national postal operator of Spain is called Sociedad Estatal Correos y Telégrafos, but it is popularly called simply Correos - "Post". The Agency has more than 10 thousand branches, where 63 thousand people work, processing 5.4 billion units of correspondence per year.
It is one of the largest postal services in the world and, according to reviews, performs its functions quickly and efficiently. Indeed, I have seen many times in Spanish cities yellow scooters with the inscription Correos-the main vehicle of the delivery service, and the post offices are open from early morning until late at night.
